The Ministry of Domestic trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (MDTCC) is allocating RM39.4 million this year for implementation of the MyFarm Outlet project under the Cooperatives Commission of Malaysia (CCM).

Its deputy minister, Datuk Henry Sum Agong said the project involved the setting up of two distribution centres and 55 cooperative sales outlets in 34 parliamentary constituencies.

"CCM uses the distribution chain concept through distribution centres and cooperative sales outlets to implement the MyFarm Outlet project," he said, adding that RM5.5 million of the total allocation for the project would be from the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry.

He was speaking at a media conference held after launching the MyFarm Outlet Kasih chain owned by Koperasi Orang Melayu Kerajaan (SKOMK) Perak Berhad here today.

Also present was SKOMK Perak Berhad chairman Kassim Muhammad.

MyFarm Outlet Kasih is involved in direct selling of agro-food products from the farms and landing jetties, like meat, chicken, fish and vegetables, at prices of between five and 20 per cent lower.

According to Henry, three MyFarm Outlet chains have been carried out under CCM since last year involving three cooperatives, namely SKOMK Perak Berhad, Koperasi Perwaja Kemaman Berhad and Koperasi Iskandar Malaysia Berhad.

"Looking at the response from the public, I believe the three chains are able to meet the target sales of between RM7,000 and RM8,000 daily," he added.

MyFarm Outlet was launched under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) with the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry through the Federal Agriculture marketing Authority , the Finance Ministry through the National Strategic Unit and MDTCC through CCM.
